5 arrested after marijuana compliance check

Five people were arrested Tuesday after Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies went to perform a compliance check on a residence in the 16000 block of Meadow Way.

According to a Narcotics Task Force spokesman, the only medical marijuana recommendation at the site belonged to Brandy DeGennaro, who lives at the residence belonging to her father, Michael DeGennaro.

Deputies allegedly located a total of 44 marijuana plants and found ordinance violations that included fencing requirements and square footage.

They also allegedly located a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, including needles.

Four men at the residence were arrested on a variety of charges.

Dutch Robert Cooper, 28, of Chicago Park, was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance, as well as a no-bail warrant.

Wyatt Yoder was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, as well as a no-bail warrant.

Robert Carr, 23, of Grass Valley, was booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and released on $1,000 bail.

Jordan Rose, 19, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Rose also had a $150,000 warrant for his arrest because
he failed to appear Tuesday morning for a preliminary hearing into second-degree robbery charges (see related story, page A3).

Brandi DeGennaro was arrested on a local warrant, as well as on suspicion of child endangerment.

DeGennaro’s 4-year-old daughter allegedly was present in the home and had access to needles and controlled substances.

The girl was taken into protective custody and a Drug Endangered Child case was initiated.

The father of the girl, Shawn West, was shot and killed two years ago in Sacramento in a pot deal gone bad.

The shooter, Andre Powe, was convicted earlier this month in Sacramento County of second-degree murder and will be sentenced Sept. 28.
