Police blotter: Sept. 17: 'Friday the 13th' scam 


Grass Valley Police Department

Friday — 62 calls for service

9:46 a.m. — A caller from Sutton Way reported a man possibly stealing cases of organic seaweed. It was found to have been thrown away because it was no good.

11:58 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Park Avenue reported the theft of mail.

2:28 p.m. — A person in the 100 block of West McKnight Way was cited on suspicion of shoplifting.

5:11 p.m. — A woman in the 100 block of West McKnight Way was arrested on suspicion of violating probation and shoplifting.

5:14 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Dorsey Drive reported being assaulted by a man.

5:29 p.m. — A caller from memorial Park reported a group of juveniles shoving another juvenile. None of the involved parties could be located.

5:33 p.m. — A woman from the 400 block of Colfax Avenue reported her vehicle had been broken into and items stolen.

9:58 p.m. — A woman from the 300 block of Pleasant Street reported being assaulted by her boyfriend, She did not need medical attention.

Saturday

12:31 a.m. — A man from the 100 block of West Empire Street reported someone knocked on his door and left.

2:18 a.m. — A caller from South Church Street reported a physical fight involving bats. It was found to have been verbal only.

2:44 a.m. — A woman from the 100 block of Northridge Drive reported her residence had been broken into and two laptops were missing.

8:20 a.m. — A caller from the 300 block of South Auburn Street reported three people throwing donated items in the street.

10:42 a.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Harper Street reported an eBay scam. The victim ordered $3,000 of camera equipment and only received a “Friday the 13th” DVD.

12:57 p.m. — A caller from Sutton Way and East Main Street reported three men chasing a fourth man who they said stole something from a vehicle. The suspect allegedly gave the item back. A report was taken.

1:12 p.m. — A caller from Memorial Park reported a person was hurt and passed out. The man had not been assaulted and was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

4:28 p.m. — A caller from the 600 block of Butler Street reported someone knocked mailboxes down.

4:34 p.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Mill Street reported a front door had been kicked in and money stolen.

4:55 p.m. — A caller from Maiden Lane reported graffiti on a stop sign.

9:48 p.m. — A caller from Sutton Way reported a man following people and asking for massages. He could not be located.

10:09 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported a physical fight involving three men. No charges were desired.

Sunday

12:58 a.m. — A woman from the 100 block of Ophir Street reported her boyfriend assaulted her. She was not injured and did not want charges.

1:19 a.m. — A caller from Glenwood Avenue reported a dog chased a man and tried to jump on a vehicle.

4:06 a.m. — A woman from the 600 block of Woodland Way reported a man vandalized a vehicle and property.

7:01 a.m. — A caller from Grizzly Hill School reported the theft of a 15-foot flatbed trailer and backpack blower.

7:23 a.m. — A man from the 15000 block of Harmony Estates Road reported a man brandished a shotgun at him and accused him of a robbery.

8:13 a.m. — A woman from the 27000 block of Cherokee Street reported a man screaming who has a knife. He was hearing voices and might be on meth.

9:18 a.m. — A caller from the 13000 block of Loma Rica Drive reported a vehicle burglary with insurance information and an owner’s manual missing.

10:56 a.m. — A caller from the 29000 block of Highway 49 reported a theft.

10:58 a.m. — A caller from the 15000 block of Wet Hill Road reported animal abuse.

1:17 p.m. — A caller from the 16000 block of Jones Bar Road reported a gate had been torn down.

3:08 p.m. — A caller from the 11000 block of Millpond Lane reported the theft of five guns.

6:28 p.m. — A man from Brewer Road reported a person wouldn’t give him his portion of medical marijuana.

6:40 p.m. — A caller from Wolf Mountain Road reported a ruckus at the tower; nothing was located.

6:42 p.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Combie Road reported people drinking in the parking lot; a second caller reported a drunken driver almost hit a building.

7:56 p.m. — A caller from Oh Wah Ree Place reported hearing a screaming woman.

9:48 p.m. — A caller from Nevada Union High School reported a boy had been jumped by several people.

10:01 p.m. — A caller from Red Dog and Banner Quaker Hill roads reported hearing shots fired.

10:37 p.m. — A caller from Nevada Union High School reported a fight.

2:36 a.m. — A caller from Bradford Drive reported drunken men riding a toy car down the road. They were parking it for the night.

11:10 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Loma Rica Drive reported people smoking marijuana, who could not be located.

2:41 p.m. — A caller from Highway 20 and Conservation Road reported motorcycles tearing up the road; the suspects were admonished.

3:18 p.m. — A woman from the 18000 block of Buck Mountain Road reported a man attacked her.

3:42 p.m. — A caller from the 23000 block of Scotts Flat Road reported hearing gunshots.

3:58 p.m. — A caller from Highway 20 and Scotts Flat Road reported a vehicle driving on a trail. It was not located.

4:41 p.m. — A caller from the 19000 block of Branding Iron Road reported the theft of a water pump.

5:14 p.m. — A caller from Banner Lava Cap and Red Dog roads reported a theft.

10:16 p.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Highway 174 reported an attempted shoplifting.

10:46 p.m. — A caller from the 18000 block of Biladeau Lane reported an assault.

11:57 p.m. — A boy from the 29000 block of Highway 49 reported his mother assaulted him.

1:48 a.m. — A caller from the 17000 block of Penn Valley Drive reported a large physical fight with pool sticks and broken bottles. A report was taken.

3:20 a.m. — A woman from the 13000 block of Gracie Road reported someone broke down the door while she was in the shower. She fled.

2:06 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Sacramento Street reported a loud party. One man was arrested on suspicion of violating probation and one person was arrested on unknown charges.
