LOP man starts 120-day sentence for sexual assault

A Lake of the Pines man charged with sexual assault after drinking with friends at an Auburn bar is serving time in jail after pleading no contest to false imprisonment.Eric Douglas Morton, 25, surrendered at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on Sunday to begin serving a 120-day sentence. He is eligible to apply for alternative sentencing after 30 days.Morton had been charged with one count of oral copulation with a person incapable of consent, after Nevada County Superior Court Judge Robert Tamietti did not find sufficient evidence to try him on counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object and sexual …
