Police Blotter: Man with machete on chase in 'self defense'


Nevada County Sheriff’s Office

Thursday

8:58 a.m. — A commercial burglary was reported on the 11000 block of East Bennett Road.

9:15 a.m. — A vandalism case was reported in the vicinity of Wolf Mountain Road and Dawn Lane.

9:50 a.m. — A caller on the 11000 block of Butler Road reported a suspected identity theft.

10:13 a.m. — A caller on the 17000 block of Cattle Drive reported a possible stolen firearm.

11:57 a.m. — A vehicle rollover was reported in the vicinity of Highway 20 and Steep Hill Road.

12:06 a.m. — A caller on the 11000 block of Still Road reported a neighbor’s loose pit-bulls attacking livestock.

2:33 p.m. — A caller on the 11000 block of Greenbriar Way reported a possible theft case involving a neighbor.

3:58 p.m. — A 911 caller on the 16000 block of Hillaire Road reported being chased by a man with a machete. The dispute was later found to stem from an attempted eviction, but it was determined that both sides were acting in self defense. The parties were separated and no charges were filed.

9:43 p.m. — A caller on the 10000 block of Sycamore Court reported that somebody had been tampering with the security cameras.

Grass Valley POLICE DEPARTMENT

Thursday

9:22 a.m. — A man identified as a transient was arrested at a business on the 100 block of Bank Street after being asked to leave and continuing to come back.

11:46 a.m. — A caller on the 200 block of Mill Street reported watching a male subject wearing all black climb over a fence and into an apartment complex.

1:18 p.m. — Landscape workers near a Highway 20 interchange ramp reported a hazard in the form on someone shooting BBs at workers, or possibly throwing rocks. The reporting party believed the projectiles might be coming from a passing vehicle.

2:56 p.m. — A private security company reported two males harassing people in a parking lot on the 100 block of Neal Street.

3:59 p.m. — A caller reported a possible burglary on the 300 block of Mill Street.

4:05 p.m. — A caller on the 500 block of Sutton Way identified two men as transients and accused them of exchanging drugs for money. Officers searched both parties involved and found the accusation to be unfounded.

5:02 p.m. — A caller on the 300 block of South Church Street reported a neighbor for yelling “HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE NRA” while holding a holstered firearm. Dispatch made a log-entry of the incident.

6:20 p.m. — A caller reported a transient sleeping in front of a business on the 500 block of Sutton Way.

7:01 p.m. — A caller on the 900 block of Sutton Way reported a female slumped over in an alley with a “huge bag of pills.”

7:29 p.m. — A caller found a handgun leaning up against a telephone pole in the vicinity of Slate Creek Road and Ridge Road.

8:33 p.m. — A caller on the 400 block of Central Avenue reported a young female assaulting a male with an afro in a group of approximately 30 juveniles in the Toddler Park near Bank Street and Bennett Street.

10:58 p.m. — A caller on the 300 block of Clark Street reported “TRANSIENTS ARE BBQING” behind his residence.

Friday

2:53 a.m. — A caller in the vicinity of Neal St. and Auburn St. reported hearing two males grunting and yelling behind a building in Pioneer Village.

3:10 a.m. — Officers contacted a “homeless subject” sleeping in front of a business on the 500 block of Sutton Way. That individual was arrested.

Nevada City POLICE DEPARTMENT

11:36 a.m. — A 911 caller in the vicinity of South Pine Street and Sacramento Street reported hearing subjects yelling and possibly punching each other in a house.

3:46 p.m. — A 911 caller reported a possible theft taking place at a local school on the 100 block of New Mohawk Road.
