A Nevada City man was suspected to be driving under the influence when he crashed his motorcycle on Willow Valley Road Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Raymond Hagan, 32, was driving his 1983 Honda motorcycle east of Lewis Road at about 4 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a sweeping right curve in the road, causing the motorcycle to cross the westbound lane and hit a utility pole, the CHP report said.
Hagan slid off the motorcycle, reportedly sustaining multiple large lacerations and abrasions and a possible left leg fracture and rib fracture. He was wearing a helmet, the report said.
Nevada City Police officer and firefighters responded to the scene, along with CHP officers. Hagan was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center after being arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. He remains in the hospital in fair condition, according to a spokeswoman.
