A Nevada City man charged with molesting two separate girls over a period of time dating back eight years was arrested again Friday on new charges involving a third victim.
Robert Lewis Taylor, 49, had pleaded not guilty to eight counts involving one victim in 2006, who was younger than 14 at the time, and a second victim who was younger than 18, for incidents that occurred between 2008 and 2010 and in 2013. Those charges include lewd acts, sexual battery by restraint and child molestation.
Taylor had appeared in Nevada County Superior Court on Feb. 13 in that case and had been released on $120,000 bail.
The third victim, who is now 19, came forward after seeing media reports of Taylor’s arrest, said Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal.
She told detectives from the Major Crimes Unit that Taylor had molested her when she was 11, Royal said.
Taylor reportedly tried to dissuade the teen and her mother from coming forward.
“He tried to encourage them not to file charges or testify,” Royal said.
He was taken into custody on a molest charge, as well as dissuading a witness, and was being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
He was set to return to court March 13.
