Graveside services for Carrie “Cuddie” Baretta of Penn Valley will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Penn Valley Cemetery. Pastor Tom Gregoire will officiate the services. A reception will follow at the Penn Valley Community Church.

Mrs. Baretta died Sunday, Dec. 24, at Meadow View Manor in Grass Valley. She was 93.

She was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Noble, Okla., to Cullum Arch and Lou T. (Early) Murphy. She married Bart Baretta in 1923 in Fullerton. She worked as a cashier and also sold women’s clothing. She had been a member of the Penn Valley Community Church since 1980, where she was an active member of the Women’s Society. She was also in charge of the church’s distribution of food to the needy, for which she received an award for her community service. She enjoyed her family and reading.

She is survived by her nephew and niece-in-law, Mike and Mary Catherine Taylor of Los Angeles; niece, Pam Taylor of Penn Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Bert Baretta in 1964.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Penn Valley Community Church.
