Who wants to have deeper connections with others, to be more productive and to have more good things come your way?
In working with many successful people, what I have found is that they operate from a place of being glad. For the purpose of this article, GLAD stands for the following:
Genuine: Successfully productive and fulfilled people are genuine. Judy Garland was quoted as saying, “Always be a first-rate version of yourself rather than a second-rate version of someone else.” It’s why an original piece of art is more valuable than any copies; it’s authentic. Be one of a kind. Be you. You are a unique, talented and brilliant individual. Who are you not to be? Start shining the light on your genuineness so others can see it, too.
Loving: People who are thriving are loving. They love themselves so they can love others unconditionally. They also love what is; they don’t resist what is. They may wish things were different yet they accept things for what they currently are. They also have clarity about what they can do to affect the change they seek, and then they do what they can about it. They don’t complain, for they know those that complain about things are the ones not willing to take the risk to change it.
Awesome: Flourishing people remember and display their awesomeness. We have all had flashes of brilliance and moments of magnificence where we may have actually amazed ourselves. Who’s to say that can’t become our norm? Focus on your amazing acts, your brilliant behavior and charismatic characteristics (We call those the A-B-C’s) and stop getting wrapped around the axle of what you may have not done so well. Learn from it, just don’t spend too much time there.
Determined: Prosperous people are determined to do whatever it takes (legally, morally and ethically) to accomplish what is important. They recognize that it may take a few attempts or even a few hundred attempts to ultimately triumph. However, they know that triumph is just a little more oomph added to try. With each mistake or misstep, they learn and make new distinctions along the way. They increase their capacity by becoming more skilled as they learn. Anyone who has ever done
anything great has had plenty of setbacks. The only person who has not made any mistakes or had any setbacks is the one who never tried anything.
Take a quick moment right now and imagine yourself doing your best to be more GLAD. As you do, can you see how it can lead to having deeper connections with others, being more productive and having more good things come your way?
No matter what your past has been, your future is spotless. This week be more GLAD. You will be glad you did.
Make it up, make it fun and make it happen!
