Hoping and wishing typically don’t make for good business-building strategies. However, if you remember to follow a four-step process, you can WISH your way to greater success.
I often find that people don’t really go for what they want because they don’t know how to achieve it. So they settle for less than what they want, or they tolerate mediocrity. Well, I challenge you to step into your full potential and WISH your way to what you want.
W — Write down what you want and why you want it. Take some time where you can block the world away. If you can locate yourself to an inspiring setting, all the better. We have different thoughts based on our environments. In a clutter-filled environment, we may not envision as passionately as if we are in a beautiful and organized setting.
Imagine what success really can look like for you. Imagine yourself experiencing the achievement of that objective. Write out as much detail as you can. Let it flow. Don’t allow yourself to become encumbered with how to get there just yet. For now, stay open to the possibility of what you want and keep writing. Write with no limits as if it will absolutely come to pass.
Be clear on why you want it. Being clear on the reasons creates tremendous leverage for you. If we don’t have a strong enough motive why we must achieve something, it’s too easy to get distracted and lose focus.
I — Investigate how to achieve it. Now that you have gained clarity around what you really want and why you want it, you may notice there are some big leaps you will need to take in order to achieve it. You may further notice you have no clue how to bridge the gap.
Rest assured many people who achieve greatness didn’t have all the answers when they embarked on the journey either. Success leaves clues. Investigate how others may have achieved what you want to realize. Borrow their brilliance and let that be part of your plan.
Add to your list the solutions and answers you discover.
S — See it happen. Formulate the information you listed in the first two steps and create a compelling vision for yourself.
Once you have your vision, review it every day. Imagine it as your reality and associate to living it emotionally. Continually refine your vision, and it will start to feel more and more achievable every day.
This imaging will create a cognitive dissonance in yourself, which will cause you to find the ways to keep closing the gap of what you imagine and what is your actual experience. Athletes do this all the time. Constantly seeing themselves on the podium creates an alignment whereby they gain access to more of their ability and resources than if they didn’t.
Remember to see who can help you achieve what you want. No one achieves greatness in isolation.
H — Habituate your thinking and your actions in a winning way. Success and fulfillment are both the results of habit. Think successful thoughts, take successful actions and you will experience a successful life.
Make successful thinking a habit. Find out what successful people think on a regular basis and adopt the empowering thoughts that can serve you and your vision.
Notice the actions successful people take on a regular basis and make them your habits. Be mindful to take on what you are comfortable starting out with and add to the mix.
Avoid overwhelming yourself into inaction by trying to think or do too much.
Whatever you WISH can come true. I WISH you success and happiness this holiday season.
Make it up, make it fun and make it happen!
