Have you ever read a page in a book, only to have no recollection of what you just read? Worse yet, you read it again and … déjà vu. For the life of you, nothing is being absorbed off the page. What is up with that? There is great substance on the page, it’s just not transmuting to your experience.
Has that ever resembled life? You know you have a best seller in your hands. You go through the motions, and yet the needle doesn’t budge on the emotional gauge of life. You know it looks great from the outside. The cover is attractive and has a beautiful picture of a successful, balanced life. However, the lack of experiential substance within the pages of the book is perplexing. Shouldn’t it all line up?
You imagine if you read the page again it will leap off and infuse you with the engagement of a magical experience.
Often, people imagine tomorrow will be a better day. They believe if they change jobs, spouses, partners, locations or whatever, something will become awakened within them, and the pages in their book will come alive. Spiritual and religious pages throughout history provide wise counsel that reminds us that it is not the “out there” that needs to change.
It is the inside that needs to change in order for us to experience our coming alive. Stop rereading the same page and expecting it to reveal what is on the other pages that you desire. Turn the page.
Many of the people that come to me for coaching have a great life. They can easily point to a wonderful family and successful career. They are blessed with good health and the accolades that are social evidence of good character and jobs well done. Yet … they feel something is missing.
The common tune resembles something like the following — my life is great, it just feels like there should be something more. It feels like something is missing. They in essence are rereading that page over and over and wanting more juice out of life.
Many are trying to reread their page in the dark. It’s no wonder they don’t feel anything from their page. The way to not just see but to really know and feel what is on your page is to turn the PAGE. Turning the PAGE turns the light back on so the words have a chance to leap into your heart.
I suggest turning the PAGE and getting your life back.
Dr. Wayne Dyer shares a perspective that helps to illustrate the point: “Our past is nothing more than the trail we leave behind. What drives our life today is the energy we generate in each of our present moments.”
I believe the energy being referred to is that of appreciation.
I believe that Persistent Appreciation Generates Enlightenment (PAGE).
If in each of our present moments we appreciate who we are, what we have, what we do and how we do it, we cannot help but bring forth our light.
It is in that light the juice of life is revealed to us.
Your life is a page-turner. Keep turning the PAGE!
Make it up, make it fun, and make it happen!
