Sleep Shop in Grass Valley moves into better location

One of Grass Valley’s homegrown mattress stores has recently moved into a more noticeable location.

Sleep Shop moved into the former Blockbuster location on Brunswick Way last Friday, and the owners hope to bring more attention with their new location.

“We’ve been wanting this location for years,” said Seth Miller, who operates the business with his brother, Adam Miller. Both were born and raised in Grass Valley.

The store was located next to the CVS on Sutton Way for six and a half years until it moved into its current location at 410 Brunswick Way.

“We just moved it all in one day,” said Adam Miller. “There’s so much more visibility, so this is a great location for us.”

Furniture is nothing new to the Millers, as their grandparents owned Hedman’s Furniture in downtown Grass Valley, which was taken over by their aunt and uncle and turned into an Ashley Furniture.

“We grew up in this business. We’ve been selling for 19 years each and really like to help people with bad backs and sleep problems to find the right bed,” said Seth Miller. “And we can be honest because we’re not on commission since we’re family-owned, so it’s a nice experience for customers.”

The store offers mattresses by Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Simmons, Spring Air, Heirloom and OMI Organic, a company based out of Marysville.

The prices range from $299 up to $6,000 for the more expensive Tempur-Pedic and organic beds, though most are in the $299 to $999 range.

The move enabled a larger space for the mattresses, Seth Miller said.

“This gives us the opportunity to get all the beds on the floor that we want, and we’re not crowded, so it’s really exciting for us,” he said.

“We’re really happy with the selection we have and the space we have, and we enjoy being together,” Seth Miller said. “We’ve always wanted to work together, so it’s really nice.”
