Everyone is invited to share their time and talents with Nevada County non-profits, public agencies, and schools. Over 75 local agencies need your help.

Share your English skills
Help English language learners become thriving members of our community by helping out as a one-on-one tutor. No prior teaching experience is necessary as ongoing training and mentoring by experienced tutors is provided.
The next two day training takes place on Sept. 20 and 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Creative minds needed

Help plan a brand new signature event. United Way runs events throughout the year for both fundraising and to benefit other non-profits in the community. If you are creative, like to help the community, and love to brainstorm; this opportunity could be the perfect fit for you. Be a part of a special project from start to finish.
Help feed the children
During the summer when school is out of session, The Food Bank of Nevada County provides lunches to children living in low-income apartments. The Friday Grass Valley route needs to be filled immediately. This volunteer position can be done as a team, so you are welcome to bring a friend to help. Please call the Food Bank at (530) 272-3796.
Meals on Wheels' drivers
If you enjoy helping seniors, and can follow written and visual driving directions, the Home Delivered Meals program needs your help. Drivers are needed for routes Monday through Friday. Two and one half hours once a week is all it takes to provide needed nourishment and care.
RSVP office; technology skills needed
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for a volunteer with good computer skills, Web savvy and the ability to focus on assigned tasks. Please call (530) 271-0255 to help an organization that provides volunteers for over 80 local agencies.
Senior Information and Assistance and telephone reassurance needs your communication skills to connect seniors to local health and social service. Answer phones, make outgoing calls, and be comfortable using a computer. HelpLine is located in the RSVP offices. Volunteers are needed on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 and 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Use your strength and drive
Women of Worth is in need of someone strong that is able to pickup and deliver donated items to their resale shop. You must be able to lift furniture and other heavy items.
Volunteers with a truck are preferred, and a box truck is available for larger loads.
Leadership skills to help veterans
Welcome Home Vets creates a healing community where veterans, active duty military and their families feel understood and valued. They are currently in need of an administrative services team coordinator. This position coordinates many different office functions including human resources, volunteer services, finance, data reporting and media services.
Must have excellent communication skills and be computer literate.
Special event help
The Bear Yuba Land Trust needs volunteers to help with their summer events. BYLT has built 22 miles of community trails and created about 250 acres of publicly accessible open space.
Whether your interests lie in set up, security, serving food, or directing traffic; the need is great. Events: July 5, July 27, Aug. 24 and Sept. 28.
'I've been working on the railroad…'
Share your love of railroads and give informative talks regarding Nevada County history as a docent for the railroad museum in Nevada City.
Your assistance is needed once a week for 3-6 hour shifts. Training is provided. Assistance in the gift shop is also needed.

RSVP is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service and sponsored locally by the Area 4 Agency on Aging.
