Twin Cities Church

Join us as we begin our series, “Like Jesus.” The message this week is “Like Jesus In Identity.” Twin Cities Church meets Sundays at 8, 9:35, and 11:15 a.m. at 11726 Rough & Ready Highway. Children (birth through fifth grade) meet during every Sunday morning service. Senior High Students meet at 9:35 a.m. and Junior High Students meet at 11:15 a.m. in the east multi-purpose room. Grass Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church

Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains

Join us Sunday at 11 a.m. for “Portals, Thresholds and Passages” with Sharon Moore. What are the life experiences that invite, lead and carry us to a change in perception — from one based on anxiety and fear, to one filled with gratitude and love? Church of the Essence

Come and join our spiritual gatherings. We are open to the public and would love to have you join us. Combie Bible Church

The Art of Marriage, a presentation of FamilyLife Ministries, is being presented at Combie Bible Church. This is a new video-based marriage conference built on the same biblically based content as the Weekend to Remember Getaway that FamilyLife presents. The Art of Marriage brings together some of the most respected and influential pastors and experts on marriage and family to share with you and your spouse. It also brings a fresh approach to a video conference by weaving together the following elements to help couples fully experience God’s design for marriage: expert teaching, engaging stories, real-life testimonies, man-on-the-street interviews and humorous vignettes. The seminar will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday night, February 22 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23. Combie Bible Church is located at 22924 W. Hacienda Dr. by Lake of the Pines. Brother, can you spare an ... hour?

A group of local men meets from 6 to 7 a.m. Thursdays at Penny’s Diner for breakfast. Under the banner of “Christian Business Men’s Committee,” we have breakfast, read a portion of scripture, share what God has done in our life and pray. As a welcome break between weekends, these men encourage each other as they wish to encourage you in these trying times. Penny’s Diner is located at 2072 Nevada City Highway in the B&C Fowler Center in Grass Valley.

Pray Nevada County

We are seeking God on behalf of our communities. Open to all for Christian prayer, Pray Nevada County meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. to pray for our county governments and services, schools and families, businesses and media, and churches and parachurch ministries. Since August 1997, 15 to 25 people from eight to 12 congregations have met each week to pray for our communities. The Healing Rooms of Nevada County

We pray for healing of body and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether they attend church or not. Come to the Main Lobby of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, 155 Glasson Way, Grass Valley on Thursdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is no fee and no appointment is necessary. Also, Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. healing ministry is available by appointment only.

Grass Valley AM AGLOW

We are a local chapter of Aglow International and meet the second Tuesday of every month from 9:45 a.m. to noon at 336 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley. Aglow is a wonderful opportunity for unity in the Body of Christ and is not “just for women” anymore! Take Brunswick Road to Whispering Pines Lane, left on Crown Point Circle and then right at Nevada County Board of Realtors.

Hope Bearers

We are a Christian cancer support group that meets at Foothill Church. Those with serious chronic illnesses, including cancer, and their care givers are encouraged to come and share in a safe environment concerning this difficult time. The Palestine-Israel Working Group of Nevada County (PIWG)

We advocate for human rights, equality and justice for all in Palestine and Israel. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at a private home. Please call 530-713-1131 for location and directions. Everyone who is interested in peace in the Middle East is welcome to join us. The next meeting is Tuesday, February 19, 2013. We will be discussing plans for raising funds for our Maia Project - bringing clean drinking water to a kindergarten in a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. We also maintain a weekly vigil of Women and Men in Black Thursdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m. on the Broad Street bridge in Nevada City. We have signs to share, and all who want the illegal occupation of Palestine by Israel to end are welcome to participate.

Anchored Encouragement

Nevada City United Methodist Church

This week is the first Sunday in Lent and we prepare for the journey Christ made in preparation for Easter. Pastor Charles Smith will deliver the message at both the 9 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary services. Sunday School is held during the 10:30 a.m. service with loving child care all morning. Jr. and Sr. Youth Group takes place downstairs in the Joseph Room at 10 a.m. with a light cereal breakfast and short bible study before the group joins the 10:30 a.m. service. A time for fellowship follows both services downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Another way to see one of our services is by going to Comcast Channel 11 on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. or Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m.
