Matthew Douglas Sowell of Grass Valley and Talia Shane Mancuso of Danville were married July 14 at the Empire Mine State Park.
The Rev. Canon Christopher Seal officiated.
The groom is the son of Douglas and Karen Sowell of Grass Valley. He is a 2001 graduate of Nevada Union High School and a 2005 graduate of Saint Mary’s College in Moraga.
He is the general manager at Ernie’s Van & Storage/Atlas Van Lines in Grass Valley.
The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Diane Mancuso of Livermore, and Lori Mancuso and Godwin Sammut of Danville.
She is a 2005 graduate of San Ramon Valley High School and a 2010 graduate of San Francisco State University. She is the assistant sales floor manager at Yuba Blue in Grass Valley.
The best man was Douglas Sowell of Grass Valley (the groom’s father).
Groomsmen were Jon Luc Reshatoff, Rob Straw, Zachary Callahan, Sam Battle and Gino Mancuso. The junior groomsman was Luciano Sammut.’
The maid of honor was Meg Straw of Walnut Creek. Bridesmaids were Annalise and Alexandra Begin, Amanda Niello, Diana Anglin and April Battle.
Special guests included the bride’s grandparents, Jim and Arlene Mancuso of Aurora, Colo., and Shirley Taliaferro of Walnut Creek, along with the groom’s grandmother, Elizabeth Vallerga of Oakland.
A special song was sung at the reception by the groom’s dad, Doug Sowell, accompanied by friend Tim Sullivan on guitar.
The couple honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, and currently live in Grass Valley.
