Suspect in Grass Valley break-ins arrested

A man suspected of several recent break-ins on Little Valley Road was arrested Thursday on trespassing and drug charges.

A flower nursery in the 15000 block initially called at about 10:15 a.m. to report finding a skylight that had been tampered with in a possible attempted burglary. The business’ alarm had gone off at 1 a.m., according to dispatch reports.

The business apparently had video of the suspect, who had left items behind, said Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal.

Dispatch reports also indicate a call at just before 1 p.m. from a trailer park on Little Valley Road, reporting a burglary of a storage shed. At just after 1:30 p.m., a caller reported that the suspect in the theft was under a trailer; another caller reported the suspect had been breaking into houses in the area, according to dispatch reports.

“The man was sleeping under the porch,” Royal said. “He was wearing the same clothes as the man in the surveillance video.”

The man, identified as Jared Michael Cline, 27, reportedly had a warrant out of Placer County. A deputy searched him and reportedly found he had a small baggie of a suspected controlled substance, as well as medication he allegedly admitted he planned to sell and three syringes.

He was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance for sale and trespassing. He was being held in lieu of $36,750 bail.

Cline had been arrested in Grass Valley on Jan, 22 and charged with trespassing and possession of a controlled substance.
