A 15-year-old Grass Valley girl who had been missing since Jan. 17 has returned home.
Jonica Smith was picked up by Grass Valley Police officers after she was spotted across the street from her mother’s residence on Ophir Street Sunday afternoon.
“She said she was tired of running,” said Smith’s mother, Debbie Prochaska.
Smith had initially run away Jan. 1 and last been seen by her mother on Jan. 17 after she briefly returned home and then left with her mom’s Chiweenie puppy.
“I’m very grateful for the outpouring of support,” Prochaska said of the community’s response.
