Nate Beason was elected chairman of the Nevada County Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning during the regular meeting.
Ed Scofield was elected vice-chairman by his peers.
Beason’s ascension into the chair seat marks the end of Supervisor Hank Weston’s stint as chair.
“You have handled (the office) well,” Beason told Weston after being elected. “Thank you and congratulations on a successful tenure.”
Supervisor Richard Anderson praised Weston for his ability to “keep track of and balance deliberations.”
Weston thanked his fellow members for being a good team.
“The civility we have been able to project is well-accepted in the community,” Weston said.
Weston also thanked the employees, whom he acknowledged had been forced “to do more with less” in past years without a decrease in productivity.
Finally, Weston said the board has tried to serve its constituency and make decisions that are best for “the county as a whole.”
