Swap some ski gear at Bear River High School Saturday

For those interested in hitting the slopes at an affordable rate, Bear River High School is offering its second annual ski swap fundraiser today.

The event supports the junior class and money raised will be used for prom and graduation, said junior class treasurer Maddie Bachus.

The cost to attend the ski swap, which includes sales of donated snow sports equipment, is $1 for students, $2 for adults and is free for children younger than 5. Ten percent of the proceeds are donated to Bear River High School for student activities.

The event previously supported the Bear River High School ski team, but the program was dissolved due to budget cuts, Bachus said, adding that the school’s prom is an important event for many students.

“It’s very important to most of the junior class,” Bachus said. “It’s basically our one large fundraiser for the year.”

The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today.
