Police blotter: Pot-growing dispute, chickens in trash bags

Grass Valley Police Department


8:52 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Margaret lane reported a snake in an exam room.

9:07 a.m. — A caller from Walsh and Pleasant streets reported a stop sign had been tagged.

10:40 a.m. — A caller from the 700 block of Freeman Lane reported finding drug items.

11:26 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Catherine Lane reported a theft.

12:24 p.m. — A caller from the 1000 block of Plaza Drive reported finding two syringes.

12:40 p.m. — A caller reported a woman had been missing for two and a half weeks. She does not have a permanent residence, and drives a 2000 silver Lexus. A missing persons advisory was issued.

1:04 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Cypress Hill Drive reported card fraud.

1:43 p.m. — A caller from the 1200 block of East Main Street reported a break-in, possibly to use a bathroom.

2:25 p.m. — A caller from the 1700 block of East Main Street reported a man possibly sniffing paint, who was gone when officers arrived. At 4:56 p.m., a caller reported a man huffing paint, but he could not be located.

2:39 p.m. — A woman from Sutton Way and Brunswick Drive reported a man tried to get her into a vehicle twice. He could not be located.

3:03 p.m. — A caller from Memorial Park reported a man urinating in front of children at the bus stop.

4:11 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Mill Street reported vandalism.

8:18 p.m. — A woman from the 200 block of East Maryland Drive reported the burglary of a residence wit the theft of a Nexus tablet.

9:58 p.m. — A caller from South Auburn and West Empire streets reported people in a truck purposely tried to hit the caller, who was on a bicycle.

10:52 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Arcadia Drive reported the neighbors had a live chicken in a bag inside a garbage can. The neighbor said he thought he had killed the chickens by hitting them on the head with a hammer, then threw them in the trash. They were not dead; they were collected and taken to animal control.


3:01 a.m. — A woman from Dever Lane reported a person was rattling her back door and bouncing things in her carport. No one was located.



11:40 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Slate Creek Road reported identity theft.

12:16 p.m. — A man from the 13000 block of Bradford Drive reported coming home to find his power off and the electric panel doors open. There was no sign of forced entry or theft. Extra patrols were requested.

2:23 p.m. — A caller from the 11000 block of Alta Sierra Drive reported a residential burglary.

2:44 p.m. — A caller from the 15000 block of Wolf Road reported a theft from a horse trailer.

3:30 p.m. — A caller from the 13000 block of Lee Lane reported a dispute with a man knifing a woman’s tires.

4:21 p.m. — A caller from Bitney Springs and Newtown roads reported a teen standing on the side of the road with a black gun in his hand. He was gone when deputies arrived.

4:59 p.m. — A man from Fagerlie Road reported four men on his property with two U-Haul vans. He said he hired them to grow marijuana in return for a cut of the plants; he was concerned they were going to take more than their share.

5:47 p.m. — A caller from the 13000 block of Brookview Drive reported a man took $50 in food and threw it outside. A person was transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

8:25 p.m. — A caller from the 14000 block of Maidu Trail reported people who had been evicted might be on a property.

9:47 p.m. — A caller from Grizzly Hill and Tyler-Foote Crossing roads reported a motorcycle burning in the middle of the road.


6:39 a.m. — A caller from Alta Street and Ridge Road reported a major water break.

7:11 a.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Kearney Court reported aggressive Rottweilers.

7:59 a.m. — A caller from the 16000 block of Clover Valley Road reported fraud.

9:03 a.m. — A caller from Adams Street reported fraud.

4:32 p.m. — A caller from Coyote Street reported a person lying in the road, who was transported to the hospital.

6:46 p.m. — A caller from Grove Street reported a person might be in a swimming pool; no one was located.


1:40 a.m. — A caller from Sacramento Street reported a man refusing to pay for items he had eaten. The man was given a warning.
