A Nevada City man remains in county jail on $500,000 bail after he allegedly tried to strangle his girlfriend while she was holding a 1-month-old child.
Isaac Nahaliel Marsh, 28, reportedly had been drinking and got into an argument with his girlfriend at their residence on the 29000 block of Wampum Way.
At some point during the argument, Marsh grabbed her by the arm, but she pulled away, said Nevada County Undersheriff Joe Salivar.
She then went to pick up the infant, who was crying, and moved into the bedroom, where Marsh allegedly grabbed her by the throat.
At some point, she ended up on the bed with Marsh shaking her, Salivar said. He then allegedly took and broke her cell phone before she was able to leave and call for help.
Marsh was gone when deputies responded at about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday. The victim was escorted to a Nevada City motel, where she planned to spend the rest of the night.
But while deputies were looking for Marsh, he apparently discovered where his girlfriend was and kicked the door in, assaulting her again, Salivar said.
Deputies responded to the motel at about 3:15 a.m. and took Marsh into custody.
He was booked into county jail on suspicion of spousal abuse, second-degree burglary, stalking, making criminal threats, vandalism, child endangerment and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
