Indian Springs Winery eyes June closing on Nevada City tasting room

A few months shy of its 30-year anniversary, Nevada County’s Indian Springs Winery announced its imminent closure as its owners prepare for retirement. “It’s great news for us,” said co-owner Julie Holmes. “We aren’t getting any younger, and we’re ready to retire.” Sprouted in 1983 by Dennis Ball on 112 acres, Indian Springs Vineyards and Winery garnered contracts with several of Napa and Sonoma counties’ best wineries, according to its website. “This early success helped to re-establish Nevada County’s wine heritage as an integral part of California’s wine industry,” noted the owners in an advertisement that ran in Thursday’s Prospector, …
