What is your nonprofit’s history?
DVSAC has served Western Nevada County in Northern California since 1978, first as a community group — the Battered Women’s Alliance — and since 1980 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
Initially known as the Domestic Violence Coalition, it was formed to offer crisis intervention and safe housing services to the victims of domestic violence and their families in Nevada County. Within a few years, DVSAC also began offering counseling and advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault.

1. Emergency shelter addition to our services in 2000

1. We continue to seek and secure funds to stabilize services
2. We wish to expand our shelter to be able to provide more bed nights for those clients and families that need emergency housing

Establish mental health collaborations in our community to better serve our clients who struggle with interpersonal violence and the mental health challenges that often coincide.

Expand our emergency shelter space and capabilities
