NID studies expansion of water system

The Nevada Irrigation District is looking at new ways to extend treated water supplies to neighborhoods that are beyond existing water system infrastructure. In a presentation at Wednesday’s meeting of the NID Board of Directors, Chief Engineer Gary King outlined a “backbone extension” program that would expand the district’s current systems. He said the program would be “another tool” in helping residents gain access to public treated water supplies. The program would use capacity funds, reimbursements and tax funds to pay for waterline extension and regionalization projects and then recoup some of the advance funding as new customers hook up …
