A progress report on the implementation of Nevada City’s homeless-curbing camping ordinance is expected at tonight’s city council meeting. Nevada City Police Chief Jim Wickham is scheduled to give the council an update on the progress of the no-camping regulation since its December enactment. The ordinance put Nevada City’s estimated 60 homeless people in a position where they could either seek a police exemption where authorities determine whether the public space a person is camping on provides for adequate health and safety standards, or be subject to citation.
