At its Jan. 16 meeting, members of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Nevada County are inviting community members to learn about the devastating effect that cyber-bullying has on its victims. Using Facebook, Twitte and email, bullies can harass their victims 24 hours a day. The meeting will feature Marlene Mahurin, a credentialed teacher and family life educator who says that “in today’s digital world, cyber-bullying and ‘sexting’ have reached epidemic proportions.” Mahurin is a Nevada County resident and is tapped in to the local situation and what is currently being done about it.
