Republican Jim Nielsen continues to a sizable lead over his Democratic opponent Mickey Harrington in the special election for the District 4 State Senate seat. The California Secretary of State’s website is reporting Nielsen has managed 80,820 votes (66 percent) as opposed to Harrington’s 40,739 votes (34 percent). The website indicates 358 of the 640 (56 percent) voting precincts in the district are reporting as of 10:07 p.m. In Nevada County, Nielsen is also leading, capturing 8,460 votes (60 percent) with Harrington mustering 5,850 votes (40 percent).
