The Yuba Watershed Institute (YWI) will celebrate its 15th annual Fungus Foray and 2nd Annual Wild Mushroom Expo Saturday and Sunday. Autumn is here, which means mushrooms. The recent rain and snow heralds the beginning of the west coast mushroom season. Daniel Nicholson, YWI’s mushroom master, has been spotted eating a few Russula, nibbling on a Bolete, and seen a couple white Chanterelle so the Sierra foothills haven’t been at a loss for fungi — even within the minor drought that has happened.
