The Greater Alta Sierra Community has been recognized as a Firewise Communities/USA site by the National Fire Protection Association for their efforts to reduce the vulnerability of homes and landscape to wildfire. The award will be presented at noon Saturday, at the Alta Sierra Pizza & Grill’s lower parking area at the corner of Highway 49 and Alta Sierra Drive. In the event of rain, the celebration will be conducted at Fire Station 88, located at Highway 49 and LaBarr Meadows Road.
