More snow predicted today in the Sierra

TAHOE/TRUCKEE — More snow was expected Friday in the greater Tahoe/Truckee region as the second winter storm of the 2012-13 season continued, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. A winter weather advisory was to remain in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, NWS reports. Additional snow accumulations will create slick and icy road conditions with chain controls likely over Sierra passes. Lake effect snow is possible on the east side of Lake Tahoe and in the Carson range tonight as well as southeast of Pyramid Lake, according to NWS. “The cold and unstable nature of this system favors the …
