Two women arrested after allegedly fleeing scene of crash

Two women ended up in county jail after allegedly fleeing the scene of a solo-vehicle crash in Grass Valley Tuesday night. Grass Valley Police and California Highway Patrol officers responded to Highway 49 at Empire Street, where a Ford pickup truck went off the road and struck a tree just before 8:30 p.m., according to dispatch reports. Witnesses told police the driver fled on foot and the other woman left the scene in a red SUV. The SUV was located at a residence on Marshall Street, said Grass Valley Police Capt. Rex Marks.
