The Nevada Irrigation District will take over recreational operations at the Peninsula Campground at Rollins Reservoir, effective Friday. The district will purchase the existing private recreation lease from concessionaires Gary and Chris Unitt, who have operated the NID-owned campground since 2004. The purchase, approved Wednesday by the NID Board of Directors, includes campground assets, including good will, inventory, improvements and customer base. The purchase price is $300,000, an amount negotiated in recent weeks and accepted by the sellers.
