Forest Lake Christian soccer falls to Delta in league opener

The Forest Lake Christian boys soccer team got off to a rough start in Central Valley California League play Tuesday, falling to Delta 3-2.

The Falcons owned a 2-1 advantage at half, but the Saints were able to get a quick goal to start the second half and a penalty kick later to get the win.

Kevin Hegarty and Hunter Semen accounted for the Forest Lake Christian goals, and Colin Moore played well at goalie, said head coach Steve Koch.

The Falcons will look for their first CVCL win Friday when they travel to take on Sacramento Waldorf.

JV: Bear River 2, Lincoln 0

Bear River’s Scott Jensen scored a goal in the 70th minute to break up a 0-0 game Tuesday against Pioneer Valley League foe Lincoln.

Sawyer Britt added another in the 78th minute, and the Bruins went on to beat the Fighting Zebra’s by two.

Bear River goalie Wyatt Mitzel was strong in net, holding Lincoln without a goal and stopping six shots on goal, including a penalty kick in the first half.

The Bruins will get back into league action again Monday when they host Foothill.
