Judy DeMaranville swam or walked in the Barbara Schmidt Millar (BSM) Celebration of Life Triathlon for years to support the community and help raise money for subsidized mammograms at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. After DeMaranville was diagnosed with breast cancer herself in 2009, the event took on new meaning. “I realized donating $25 wasn’t really what it was about,” DeMaranville said of her entry fee into the 5k walk.
