Sierra Nevada littering travesty

Campers, hikers, bicyclists, four-wheeler enthusiasts: The beautiful Sierra Nevada is not your personal garbage dump. The forests provide us with water to drink and the very air we breathe.

We need to treat the Earth with respect so that our (yours and mine) great-great-great grandchildren may enjoy these vital elements. Oh, and they should also be able to enjoy the same beautiful outdoors we do.

On a recent walk in the woods at Loney Meadows I found empty beer cans, torn up trees, empty casings from target practice, even an abandoned truck part too heavy for me to carry away.

My heart was left very heavy by this abuse of what should be a pristine meadow for all to enjoy.
