Nevada County Supervisor Terry Lamphier says he will run for Grass Valley City Council

1:35 p.m. update: Supervisor Terry Lamphier sent out the following press release at 1:26 p.m.

Terry Lamphier, Nevada County Supervisor District 3 (Grass Valley area), is announcing he is running for Grass Valley City Council in the November election.

Lamphier’s campaign will have a simple message of “back to the basics,” using his professional experience as Nevada County Supervisor to bring our community:

- respectful representation for the whole community

- quality police and fire services

- good streets, water and sewer services

- less burdensome regulations

- fiscal responsibility, including effective tax management, not tax increases

Terry is continuing his fight to protect our community’s great small town quality of life while supporting semi-rural, compatible job development.

Supervisor Lamphier says, “Locals stay here and new people move here because they love Grass Valley the way it is. I have a strong record of protecting our small town values, and I’m eager to continue serving our community. We can’t build our way out of problems, resulting in more traffic and the need for more tax-supported services. We have what we need. Let’s build on our strengths. Grass Valley Strong!

11:46 a.m. update: According to staffers at city hall, Supervisor Lamphier has officially pulled papers for his upcoming campaign.

Outgoing Nevada County Supervisor Terry Lamphier said Tuesday morning he intends to run for a seat on the Grass Valley City Council this November.

“People deserve respectful, thoughtful and fair treatment by their elected leaders,” Lamphier told The Union. “I have a nearly four-year record as county supervisor of being that person and over 10 years of public and community service. I look forward to serving on the council.”

Lamphier, who in June lost his District 3 supervisor seat to current Grass Valley Mayor Dan Miller, said he plans to pull papers with the City of Grass Valley today.

Lamphier joins Jim Firth, Jason Fouyer and Jerri Glover as candidates who have announced their intention to run for the two open seats on the council.
