Easter Sunday egg hunt at the Nevada County Horsemen's event

The Nevada County Horsemen held its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday at the grassy field in front of the group’s cook shack on Bubbling Wells Road in Grass Valley.

The event gave local families and their children a chance to win toys, stuffed animals and gift cards while trying to find specially marked eggs that were hidden throughout the field in a pool of 1,000 eggs.

Children at the egg hunt were also treated to free Easter face painting, an egg spoon race and a surprise visit from the Easter bunny.

Lauren Gilbert, 23, has organized the egg hunt for the past three years, buying supplies from local stores and preparing a variety of activities.

Gilbert told The Union that she enjoys putting the event together for the kids and the Nevada County Horsemen.

“I like seeing the kids have fun and I just like seeing the Horsemen have new people see that the club does a lot of things like this to keep the community involved,” Gilbert said.

“I just love doing it.”
