Penn Valley woman arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

A Penn Valley woman was arrested on drug sales charges after she was pulled over by a Nevada County Sheriff’s deputy on Highway 20 Sunday night.

A deputy on patrol near Deadmans Flat reportedly saw Dawn Theresa Lee, 42, drift over the fog line in a Toyota Camry three separate times, said Sgt. Guy Selleck.

Lee was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence, and the deputy reportedly recognized her as being on bail with search and seizure terms.

During a search of Lee’s vehicle, the deputy found 54 grams of methamphetamine, Selleck said. Her purse reportedly contained hypodermic needles.

A subsequent search of her residence in the 19000 block of Penn Valley Drive reportedly uncovered sales and packaging material.

Lee was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, transporting and possessing a controlled substance for sale, committing a felony while on bail and failing to comply with a court order.

She was being held in lieu of $151,750 bail.

Lee has a number of prior criminal cases in Nevada County dating back to 2001, mostly involving theft, forgery and drugs.

She was arrested in August 2013 when Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search of her residence reportedly about 25 grams of meth, a scale, packaging material, a meth pipe and $700 in cash.
