Priming Prospector for a masterpiece in the making?
February 28, 2013
It took Leonardo da Vinci more than four years to complete the Sistine Chapel. Another four years of his life were consumed by the Mona Lisa. And some scholars and historians will argue that the fabled artist never considered the masterpiece complete.
While I don't consider Prospector a masterpiece (yet), it is a work in progress toward that end. We want to create a publication each week that is better than it was the week, month or year before — which is why you may notice changes again this week with more on the horizon.
Prospector is now distributed for free throughout Nevada County and north Auburn. The weekly event and entertainment news publication is now available in racks for seven days, until the next issue comes out again the following Thursday.
Since the start of the year, we have continuously made improvements to the publication. This week another big change — the addition of classified advertising. Next week we will roll out puzzles for all the brain busters out there. In the coming weeks, look for more specialized content and features that highlight the incredible talent in our local arts and entertainment scene.
Each week we look ahead for ideas and information that will be of value to our readers. If you have suggestions, story ideas or content to share, please let me know. Prospector deadline is noon Friday the week before it goes to print.
We've been forming this new Prospector for little more than three months. Imagine what we can do with three years.
