Dancers compete for trophy, dollars to support Center
August 23, 2014
Nevada County's own twist on popular reality show, Dancing with the Stars, returns to Grass Valley tonight as 11 local 'celebrities' take the dance floor with 11 professional dancers to raise funds for the Center for the Arts.
Tickets for the second annual Dancing With Our Stars were nearly sold out as of Friday. But there's still plenty of ways for the community to participate in the benefit event.
Each Dance team will perform two dances. The judges will score the dances and the highest scoring couple will go home with the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy designed by Stucki Engravers. Audience members can also vote with their dollars and the dancers with the highest number of "votes" will win the Audience Choice Award.
Each dollar counts as a vote so ballots stuffing is encouraged, according to event organizers. A mirror ball trophy will also be awarded to the team that raised the most funds for the Center for the Arts in individual donations. Those not attending can still support their favorite couple online at: http://www.razoo.com/team/2nd-Annual-Dancing-With-Our-Stars.
To round out the evening the Center will host an After-Party at the Off Center Stage, behind the Center for the Arts. The Off Center Stage is located at 315 Richardson St. in Grass Valley.
