Jaguar totaled after GPS leads couple into Nevada County mudhole

A couple reportedly attempting to follow a detour using GPS ended up getting stranded for hours after their Jaguar became stuck in a deep puddle of water.

The first call for service came in at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, when the male driver reported to the California Highway Patrol that he was stuck on Chalk Bluff Road.

At one point, the man reported he could not get out because water was entering the vehicle when he opened the door.

“They were trying to get to a friend’s house in Grass Valley,” said Ryan Condon of Advanced Towing, the tow truck driver who eventually pulled the sedan out.

“They went through about 15 deep puddles” in the dirt road before they got stuck, Condon said.

According to Condon, the 2013 Jaguar was totaled.

It took the tow truck about two hours to get there and another two hours to remove the car, he said.
