‘Afternoon of Poetry’ set to benefit Unitarian Universalist Community

“An Afternoon of Poetry,” a fundraiser for the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains, will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at UUCM, 246 S. Church St. in Grass Valley. Those scheduled to read include 15 established poets, as well as teenagers.

This is the second year in a row UUCM will host “An Afternoon of Poetry” as part of its spring 2013 fundraising series. Following a workshop for teens given by poet Maxima Kahn in the weeks before, teen participants who wish to join in will be included in the reading.

“… a lovely spring afternoon, an airy light-filled space and a brilliant lineup of local poets and poets from farther afield — it’s a delightful experience,” said poet Eileen Hale , one of last year’s participants.

Many of last year’s poets are returning to read again, along with Kirsten Casey and Eleanor Vincent, who will join the reading for the first time.

Besides Casey and Vincent, readers will include Julia Connor, Guarionex Delgado, Lindsay Dunckel, Molly Fisk, Connie Gutowsky, Eileen Hale, Maxima Kahn, Indigo Moor, Dale Pendell, Laura Pendell, Susan Suntree, Julie Valin, Tom Wilson and teens.

Tickets are $15, free to those under 15, and are available at The Book Seller, BriarPatch., from Ruth Ghio or at the door.
