Missing Colfax man found by Grass Valley resident

A Colfax man who reported as missing Tuesday was reunited with his family one day later, after being found by a Grass Valley resident.

Ronald Russell, 76, was reported missing at noon Tuesday by family members, after he reportedly left his home on Sylvan Road by foot, without carrying any identification or money, according to a press release by Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

His family indicated that he is starting to get easily confused, said Dena Erwin, public information officer for Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Capt. Rex Marks of Grass Valley Police Department, a Grass Valley resident spotted the wandering Russell in the 1700 block of East Main Street, more than 15 miles from his Colfax home, around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers then responded and were able to confirm his identity, and Russell returned to his family Wednesday night, Marks said.
