Nevada County Concert band kicks of concert series Sunday

The 80-member Nevada County Concert Band returns Sunday to its Pioneer Park venue for a its summer concert series. The band keeps alive an era when the local Sunday Band Concert was a grand social occasion, according to organizers. The band will perform from 5 to 7 p.m.

With the theme “I Get Around, “ this family-friendly outdoor concert - the first of three - will take audiences to great places in the United States, such as “The Charleston,” “Arlington,” “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” Neil Diamond’s “America,” “Hawaiian War Chant,” and “Washington Grays,” according to the band.

Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and picnic dinner (or enjoy the hot dog and ice cream vendors). All concerts are family-oriented, dog-friendly, and free.
