North America’s largest and most comprehensive horse expo, Western States Horse Expo, will return to Northern California for its 16th year, today through Sunday at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds, 1600 Exposition Blvd., Sacramento.
Show hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
This event will bring together more than 40,000 horsemen from Northern California and around the country.
Attendees will come face-to-face with top-tier equestrian athletes and industry veterans on the exhibition floor.
Attendees will find over 400 exhibits featuring the most innovative companies in the horse industry displaying products and services, with special show discounts and complimentary samples offered.
Plus, there will be contests, demonstrations, clinics and more.
A Trail Symposium will feature experts who will provide tips on proper use and safety out on the trail.
Teresa Spencer, author and owner of EquestiSafe, will speak about trail and barn safety and tools for the trail rider and disaster preparedness.
Bonnie Davis, a 40-year horse camper veteran, will provide tips on horse camping.
The California Highway Patrol will give invaluable tips on trailering safety, proper licensing and weight management.
Back County Horsemen of California (BCHC) will host a Gentle Use Camp section that will include a Kids Corner and knot tying, high lines, and dutch oven demonstrations throughout the weekend.
BCHC will also speak about unique train riding encounters with black bears and mountain lions and provide common sense guidelines for the backcountry.
Adult admission tickets are $18 per day or $45 for the full weekend.
Tickets for children 13 years and under are $5 per day and children under six are admitted free. Magnificent 7 admission tickets are $10.
