Wildlife benefit at Prospector Nursery features entertainment and animals

Acoustic folk musicians Three Times Through will provide the beat for the second annual Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release benefit event from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Prospector Nursery to benefit Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release. All money raised will go to help orphaned and injured native wildlife and their release back home.

In addition to the music, guests get the chance to be up close and personal with Wildlife Rehabilitation and Rescue's educational ambassadors — Tecumseh, a red-tailed hawk, Chester, a great horned owl, Braveheart, an American kestrel, Kajika, a western screech owl, and Winston, an American crow.

Lucchesi Winery will pour several of their wines, accompanied by delicious, complimentary hors d'oeuvres. There will be a raffle featuring lots of great prizes donated by many local and national businesses, including Disneyland. Guests can also get a jump on Christmas shopping with wildlife-themed merchandise and the nonprofit organization's 2013 wildlife calendar.

Advance tickets can be obtained at Prospector Nursery, BriarPatch Co-op, 290 Sierra College Drive or Lucchesi Winery, 161 Mill St. Advance ticket price is $25 each, $45 for two, or $30 each at the gate. Admission also includes a goodie bag filled with surprises.

For information or to donate a raffle prize for the event, call Karen at (530) 388-8525, email at kkosk@hughes.net or visit http://www.cawildlife911.org.

Prospector Nursery is located at 10003 Granholm Lane in Nevada City.
