Naggiar wraps up Winefest
August 29, 2013
Naggiar Vineyards' 2013 Winefest — a celebration of wine, food and music — is coming to a close in September.
On Saturday, it will host a sold-out tribute concert featuring California Dreamin and Mike Amaral's California Beach Boys band. On Sept. 15, the vineyard will celebrate its annual Harvest Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will include wine tasting, barrel tastings, grape stomping, games and raffles, chocolate tastings, a petting zoo, carriage rides and music by Fun Company.
Naggiar Bistro chef Georgia Gross will prepare a Harvest Feast for this year's festival, which can be purchased in advance. A limited number of meals will be available the day of the event for purchase, but Naggiar recommends visitors pre-purchase a meal to ensure availability. Chef Georgia, who joined Naggiar earlier this summer to take over their new Bistro endeavor, will prepare a variety of grilled sandwiches, including cheese steaks, Italian sausage and vegetarian options to be served with a romaine salad and roasted potatoes topped off with toffee bars for dessert. Meal tickets are $15 and are available online at http://naggiarvineyards.com or by calling the Tasting Room at 530-268-9059. Picnics are also welcome.
Then on Sept. 28, Naggiar will host the final live music tribute show of 2013. Naggiar music director David Swart has brought two bands together for this final show of the season. From Seattle, Kalimba Band will play the music of Earth, Wind and Fire. This high-energy group is known across the U.S. for its Earth, Wind and Fire tribute and combines all the costuming, choreography and horns that fans expect from this style of music. Local Sacramento favorite Chicago Tribute Authority will perform all the top chart-topping hits of Chicago. Gates open at 4 p.m. for this event with the music beginning at 5:30. Tickets are required to attend this event and must be purchased ahead of time. Visit http://naggiar vineyards.com or call their office to get tickets. As with the Harvest Festival event, meals will be available for pre-purchase only.
Those unable to attend the waning days of the Naggiar Winefest this month can stop by the South County vineyard and winery for complimentary wine tasting from noon to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, they offer wine for purchase by the glass and by the bottle with free live music from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings.
Naggiar Vineyards is located at 18125 Rosemary Lane. You can reach the Winery and Tasting Room at 530-268-9059 or online at http://naggiarvineyards.com.
