Gold Country Kennel Club hosts annual dog show

Sorcha, a herding title Border Collie, prepares to show in her class at the 14th annual Gold Country Kennel Club Dog Show Friday at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The show runs all day today and Sunday and is open to the community for free. There is a $5 parking fee.

The Gold Country Kennel Club will present its 14th annual dog show today and Sunday at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

The American Kennel Club-licensed event is back to back shows for all breed, obedience trials and rally trials. Typically there are all 170 AKC breeds at the show for the public to see. Admission is free, but parking is $5 at the fairgrounds. There will be more than 40 vendors on hand with animal supplies, toys and food. Plus good vendors for the humans. Lazy Dog was set up Friday with ice cream and "pupcicles" treats for the canines.

The show and trials run from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and tomorrow. A complete show schedule was printed in Friday's The Union.
