Chocolate Infusion: New event features chocolate, wine, art at Miner’s Foundry
January 20, 2013
The event for chocoholics has arrived. Chocolate Infusion, hosted by The Union, will fill Miners Foundry Cultural Center with an indulgent feast for the senses from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Union’s events manager, MaryAnne Davis came up with the idea while searching for something new and different to do that would have wide appeal in the community.
“I just thought, ‘Who doesn’t love chocolate?’” Davis said. “I like chocolate; therefore, I decided to bring it all together in one place.”
Chocolate Infusion will immerse attendees in chocolates, wine, chocolate martinis, jazz and art.
Since Chocolate Infusion is solely focused on sweet treats, Davis suggests people go to lunch in Nevada City before the event, then relish an entire afternoon of dessert.
Engage the taste buds with handcrafted confections from Dorado Chocolates, Cello Chocolate, Cowboy Toffee Co., Lazy Dog Chocolateria, Nevada City Chocolate Shop, The Truffle Shop/DeGroots, Diego’s and Cake for Giants. BriarPatch will serve coffee and samples of organic chocolate as well.
The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce will have chocolate martinis for purchase with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit organization. Wines from Avanguardia, Besemer Cellars, Nevada City Winery, Sierra Knolls, Solune and Lucchesi will be available to taste.
Those looking to take the winter chill off can purchase one of 18 different flavors at the gourmet hot chocolate bar from Victoria’s Sweet Elegance. Flavors include mint chocolate, hazelnut, raspberry truffle, amaretto, French vanilla, milk, dark and white chocolates, caramel and sugar-free.
Need a savory treat with your wine? Gourmet Goods to You will offer samples of cheese, oils and vinegar.
There will also be crafts and goodies to purchase for those who like to shop while enjoying their chocolate. Tess’, which provided the wine glasses for Chocolate Infusion, will be on hand with goodies for the kitchen as well.
Ludi Hinrichs will set the mood with jazz classics and originals on an Estonia grand piano.
For a visual treat, LeeAnn Brook will unveil her newest painting of Hirschman’s Pond above the granite hearth in the Stone Hall.
Tickets for Chocolate Infusion are $25 at the door.
There will be door prizes patrons can sign up for when they arrive. Miners Foundry is located at 325 Spring St. in Nevada City.
