Center Stage adds Sugarplum Tea to ‘Nutcracker’ lineup
December 13, 2012
Center Stage Dance Studio presents its first annual Sugarplum Tea at 11 a.m. Dec. 22. Hosted by the Sugarplum Faerie and other featured cast members of The Grass Valley Nutcracker, this one-hour event will have a very animated retelling of the "Nutcracker" story, a special keepsake souvenir, photos with the cast members and refreshments.
This special event is designed to introduce the young ballet audience member to the E.T.A. Hoffman story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King," which was the original libretto for the Marius Petipa choreography of the first "Nutcracker" ballet. This story is very rich with a Victorian party and Drosselmeyer, the magician, with his magical gifts that transport Clara to the Land of Sweets to meet the Sugarplum Faerie.
The Sugarplum Tea Party will take place at a special backstage Land of Sweets at Nevada Union High School. Party-goers should follow the signs from the parking lot. Tickets are $25 per person, which includes the Sugarplum Tea Party and "Nutcracker" performance.
Pre-sale tickets only can be purchased online at http://www.GrassValleyNutcracker.org or at the dance studio from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays until this weekend. The dance studio is located at 130 W. Berryhill Drive, Grass Valley. For information, call (530) 271-1200.
