ASiF Gallery at Grass Valley Wine Company
March 7, 2013
ASiF Gallery @ Grass Valley Wine Company invites the public to celebrate its Spring 2013 Resident Instructor Show, featuring artwork in a variety of media by eight of the center's fine art instructors. A reception for the artists at the tasting room gallery, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, will feature an encaustic painting demonstration by the Artist Studio in the Foothills resident instructor Deborah Bridges.
The vibrant mixed media collages, fine art prints, watercolor, acrylic, and encaustic paintings in this exhibit represent classes offered by resident instructors, Eileen Blodgett, Deborah Bridges, Stella Canfield, Lil McGill and Denise Wey. A sparkling display of mosaics represent workshops offered by Susan Crocenzi. A group of radiant and colorful silk painting and collage works represent a mentoring program in weaving and fiber arts offered by Kris Johnson, and two fabulous examples of figurative ceramics represent ongoing figurative sculpture classes offered by Claudia Jeffers and The Mud Hut @ ASiF.
This event will kick off the exciting new ASiF Gallery @ GV Wine Co — Second Sunday Art & Wine Events. For these events the tasting room gallery will feature a different "Artist in Action" on Second Sundays during a reception for exhibiting ASiF Gallery @ GVWC artists. Artists will set up shop for the day to demonstrate various creative processes, methods and techniques.
The featured "Artist in Action" for this month's Second Sunday Art & Wine Event is the renowned sculptor and encaustic painter, Deborah Bridges. From 2 – 4 p.m. Bridges will be set up in the front window of the tasting room demonstrating encaustic painting with oils, as a teaser for her ongoing encaustic painting classes and weekly labs at ASiF!
The ASiF Resident Instructor Show will be on display at the Grass Valley Wine Company tasting room through March 31.
Each of the artworks in this exhibit represent a class or workshop offered at ASiF. The artworks on the tasting room gallery walls only touch upon the bevy of creative possibilities offered to the public at ASiF Studios in weekly ongoing classes and workshops for adults and children. Interested students may pick up printed materials representing the many course offerings available at ASiF in the tasting room gallery, or go to the center's website at http://www.asifstudios.com.
